DECRYPTING THE CACHE, by Jennifer Kirsch
Treading through a shadowy woods didn’t rank high on my fun list. Yet I found myself surrounded by tangled tree limbs and hairy vines one Sunday evening. My new friend Dev crept along with me as we navigated angry roots, sprawling branches, and knotty trunks that resembled our knobby-nosed history teacher.
We hoped to find a geocache. “You know,” I’d explained to Dev, “a hidden container you find using a navigation app.” But he’d wanted to see it for himself.

Good News!
Heard from Elizabeth Eagan-Cox's, Kitties Lucy and Darby  this week. Well Lucy, Darby is still learning to type, but he does all the photo stuff. Anyway they caught me up on the news that their Author-Mistress used Geocaching to promote all five of her Shannon Delaney Series, novels. DonChaKnow I think that might be a pretty good promo idea for any of us. Here is Lucy's note:

Dear Jack,

You may remember me? I'm Lucy, the computer savvy feline of author Elizabeth Eagan-Cox...

A few years ago, my mistress got the witty idea to make customized Geocache Travel Bugs.... not real bugs, mind you. "Travel Bug" is a Geocache term for key chains that have a trackable GPS system attached. Anyway... Elizabeth made one for each [of her five] Shannon Delaney novels.

Here is a photo of the tag she put on with the tracker, and the following was written on the back:
A Ghost From The Shadows is book 2 in the Shannon Delaney paranormal mystery novels by Elizabeth Eagan-Cox. Lead character is a young woman named Shannon Delaney. Each novel is a cozy paranormal mystery, (no horror). Shannon is based in San Diego where she is a business writer and often travels on assignments. She has the intuitive talent to 'speak to the past' and is often assisted by her personal spirit guide, Eric Blackthorne, a ghost, who was a Victorian-era master magician. The novels are centered around mysteries that Shannon is drawn into while on assignment. This series of Travel Bugs has the mission of helping Shannon re-visit locations that played a role in the novels. For A Ghost From The Shadows the goal is to visit: Scotland, USA: Chicago, New Orleans, Galveston and in California, San Diego, Avalon and Long Beach.
Geocachers who have read the Shannon Delaney novels are invited to contact the author Elizabeth Eagan-Cox to suggest additional locations (from each novel) to list as a TB goal: Info is on each TB.  http://ElizabethEaganCox.blogspot.com

Lucy continues: At first it was pretty darn discouraging... because the travel bugs were being picked up at various geocache locations, all over the USA... but geocaching scoundrels kept them!

Yep, the Shannon Delaney travel bugs were all hijacked.... all except for one: A Ghost From The Shadows [Vol. 2] has met with great success. Hoo-Ray!

"Shadows" as we refer to its title, has traveled throughout the USA and is now in Canada! The glob-trotting geocacher who has "Shadows" left Elizabeth the photo I have attached. D.

Travel shot sent to Eliaabeth by Canadian Geocacher.
I wonder if any of the other titles reached a travel goal, before they got hikacked?  Thanks so much for the news, Lucy and Darby.
As for here at home, Maybe you saw that Arline shared Shelley's FB message about missing Dave on his birthday. I guess they both cried all day... I miss him, too. He gave the Best ear-rubs and belly scratches. Sid gives us treats, of course, but I'm not sure he likes us as much as Dave did...
Sid got Roger's power cord fixed, so now he can play the electric guitar again. Boy, is he happy!  I LOVE it when he plays that electric. It can't get too loud for me. I can sing just as loud as he can play any day. Arline just takes her hearing-aids out until we finish...
Please let me know how everyone is doing... so I'll have some news for next week.
Just send arline@mail.com a message with

 "News for Jack"

in the subject line, and

I'll make sure it shows up right here!
