Summer Reading





A great summer mystery, for all those out-of-school youngsters.

One by one neighborhood dogs disappear. One by one the ransom notes arrive. When Toby Martin and her best pal, Freddy, discover Toby’s dog is the next intended victim, they become first-rate detectives. Who is the pooch pilferer? Will Toby and Freddy rescue the dogs and capture the criminal?

What You Need

3 cups Rice or any kind of crispy or chex cereal
 
2 cups quick-cooking oats
 
1 1/2 cup peanuts or any kind of mixed nuts 
 
1 tsp. salt 
 
1 cup creamy peanut butter
 
1/2 cup  honey
 
3/4 cup  packed dark brown sugar
 
4 tbsp butter (1/2 stick sliced)

Make It


LINE 13x9-inch pan with foil, with ends of foil extending over sides.
COMBINE first 4 ingredients in large bowl. 
 
MICROWAVE remaining ingredients in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 1 min.; stir. If butter is not completely melted, give it 30 seconds more.

Add to cereal mixture; mix thoroughly with both hands. Press onto bottom of prepared pan.
 
Refrigerate 30 min. Remove from pan before cutting into bars. 

Should be stored in an airtight container in a cool dry place.
