Still working on Payroll!

Education Can Be Murder by A. G. Case

When the head accountant in the local school district dies at her desk after a late night, local law enforcement assume it’s a natural death, but the new police officer, Lt. Jo Garcia, is suspicious. When a second death occurs, Jo sets out to find the truth, despite direct orders to leave it alone from her new Chief.

Still working on Payroll!
Everyone who has Paypal has been paid. I am about to finish up. The checks will go in tomorrow's mail.

Being made fully aware of the rise in postage costs, we do encourage anyone who doesn’t have a Papal account to get one. You can attach it to a credit card without giving your bank account number, but if you do your payments will go in as payments on the balance. Some people feel that Paypal is unsafe because so much spam appears to come from them. And whether you have a Paypal account or not you will receive those annoying letters that say, "There is a problem with your paypal account, click on the line below to check out the problem and learn how to fix it."

NEVER, EVER click on that line!!

Because if you do the first thing they'll ask for is your password, and if you give it, they'll say it isn't working and to go to the site. But of course what has happened is you have given your password to some hacker! And the hacker only need your e-mail (which he already has if he's sending spam!) and the password to get into your account.

ALWAYS GO DIRECT to the web site and SIGN IN THERE. That's the only way to be safe. Never tell anyone your password!  Never click on a line in any e-mail message UNLESS you KNOW the person who sent it and why.

Thanks to every one of you who continue to encourage independent bookstores to order you books direct from us. For those of you who didn’t know, any bookstore can order direct by faxing us a purchase order with a credit card number on it to 410-221-7510. We need the number, expiration date, name if it's not the same as the store's name, and both the delivery address and the address the credit card bill comes to.

Chain stores will resist this as they are used to buying on credit  instead of using a credit card. But because we have to pay for the printing before the books are printed or shipped we do need the stores us pay up front.

Independent book stores are Much More Likely to order direct, than chain bookstores. Several of our authors had good orders. Three from from Mystery Loves Company, one from a University book store, and another from a bookstore in Florida.

Now, since I'm hungry, and still working on profit and loss sheets, I'll add a cookie recipe. Cookies help a LOT while doing accounting!

Value Added Espresso Chip Cookies

1 3/4 cups flour

1/2 cup butter, softened

1 cup light brown sugar

3 tablespoons granulated sugar

1/2 tsp baking soda

1 large egg

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/2 tsp baking powder

2 tsps vanilla extract

2 tsps instant espresso coffee powder

1/2 tsp salt

1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla.

In another bowl sift together the dry ingredients. Gradually stir add dry ingredients to the butter mixture. Stir in chocolate chips.

Drop cookies the size of a tablespoon on a greased cookie sheet or one covered with parchment about 3 inches apart. Bake for 20 minutes in a 300 degree preheated oven.

Serve warm with a glass of milk.

Enjoy
